Thank you,
Jesse and Lesle
Installation of camera with transformer.
Not picture but installation of fan with heater and light in bathroom.
Having a carport/storage shed(16'X24') I needed to have the power line raised from pole to house(County Code).
They were prompt on the day of work. They noticed somethings that needed to be brought up to code. They explained what needed to be done, the way they were going to do it and the cost.
I noticed the pictures are not in order. SMUD disconnecting the power line, the electrician installing the raiser, SMUD connecting the power line to utility box.
What was to be expected was the wait for SMUD, the county and SMUD. In this kind of work you are on their schedule and not the other way around.
The electricians did their work on a timely basis.
I continue to call them for an electrical work and ethernet connection.
County inspector after passing inspection on footing and forms suggested that I have a ground rebar installed.
I contacted OldTown Electric Inc. who I had previously made arrangements to run a power line along with two cables for security cameras an Ethernet line to the storage shed part of the structure.
They were prompt, professional and courteous.
Main Panel Upgrades in Elk Grove
Your panel should match your real electrical demand, not just pass power through until breakers start tripping.
200-Amp Main Panel Upgrades
A 200-amp panel upgrade gives many Elk Grove homes more capacity for modern appliances, HVAC demand, EV charging, and future electrical work. We check the existing service, grounding, meter setup, and available load before recommending a full upgrade.
Breaker Replacement and Panel Repair
Not every panel problem needs a full replacement. If the issue is a failing breaker, damaged bus, heat marks, nuisance tripping, or poor labeling, we inspect the panel and tell you whether repair is safe or replacement is the better move.
EV Charger and Solar-Ready Panel Work
Level 2 EV charging, solar, and battery backup often start with a panel assessment. Elk Grove homes in areas like Laguna Ridge, East Franklin, and Stonelake may have newer layouts, but that does not guarantee enough available capacity for today’s equipment.
Ask for a load check before you buy the charger or sign the solar contract.
Subpanel Installation
A subpanel can help when power needs to be distributed to a garage, shop, addition, detached structure, or remodel area. We size the feeder, breakers, grounding, and panel placement so the work is clean and inspection-ready.
Grounding and Bonding Corrections
Panel upgrades are the right time to correct weak grounding, outdated bonding, or old installation issues that can create inspection problems. We bring the service equipment into proper condition instead of only swapping the box.

What makes the panel job cleaner from the first visit
- Permit path checked early. The City of Elk Grove lists same-location residential panel replacement or upgrade up to 200 amps under electrical service/minor building permit work, while relocations can need a different process.
- SMUD coordination is built into the plan. Elk Grove electric service is provided by SMUD, so utility timing matters when the meter or service equipment is involved.
- Written pricing before work starts. You get a clear quote that explains the panel, breakers, grounding, permit work, and any known corrections.
- One point of contact. The same team that evaluates the panel explains the scope, schedules the work, and gets the job through inspection.
- No upgrade just for the sake of upgrading. We check load, condition, and your future plans before saying whether repair, subpanel work, or a main panel upgrade is the right call.

Know what your panel can handle before you commit
A panel upgrade should not start with guesswork. We inspect the current equipment, explain the capacity issue, and give you a written estimate before you decide anything.
A typical 200-amp electrical panel upgrade in Elk Grove often falls around $2,000–$4,000, depending on the existing service, meter location, grounding, permit requirements, and whether any circuits need correction. OldTown Electric gives a written estimate before work starts. Call (916) 307-0990 to schedule a free panel inspection.
Yes. Electrical panel replacement or service upgrades in Elk Grove require the proper electrical permit and inspection through the City of Elk Grove Building Division. OldTown Electric handles permit coordination and inspection scheduling as part of the panel upgrade process.
For many same-location residential electrical service projects, Elk Grove lists panel replacement or upgrades up to 200 amps under its minor building permit process. Relocations or more complex work may need additional review. OldTown Electric checks the scope first so your project starts under the correct permit path.
Sometimes, but many homes need a load calculation before adding large electrical demand. Central AC, Level 2 EV charging, induction cooking, solar, battery storage, and additions can push an older panel past its safe capacity. We inspect the panel, check available load, and explain whether repair, subpanel work, or a full upgrade makes sense.
Most straightforward residential panel upgrades take one working day, with power off during the main changeover. Utility coordination, inspection timing, meter work, or panel relocation can extend the schedule. OldTown Electric explains the expected outage before the job is scheduled.
