Thank you,

Installation of camera with transformer.
Not picture but installation of fan with heater and light in bathroom.
Having a carport/storage shed(16'X24') I needed to have the power line raised from pole to house(County Code).
They were prompt on the day of work. They noticed somethings that needed to be brought up to code. They explained what needed to be done, the way they were going to do it and the cost.
I noticed the pictures are not in order. SMUD disconnecting the power line, the electrician installing the raiser, SMUD connecting the power line to utility box.
What was to be expected was the wait for SMUD, the county and SMUD. In this kind of work you are on their schedule and not the other way around.
The electricians did their work on a timely basis.
I continue to call them for an electrical work and ethernet connection.
County inspector after passing inspection on footing and forms suggested that I have a ground rebar installed.
I contacted OldTown Electric Inc. who I had previously made arrangements to run a power line along with two cables for security cameras an Ethernet line to the storage shed part of the structure.
They were prompt, professional and courteous.

Permits: Handled, Not Your Problem
Every new 240V EV circuit in Sacramento needs a permit. Skip it and you risk a failed resale inspection or a denied insurance claim after a fire. We don’t skip it – ever.
- We pull the permit before any wire is cut.
- We do the work to code – correct load calc, wire gauge, breaker sizing, GFCI.
- We’re on-site for the inspection – not you.
- You get a signed-off permit on file, which matters for resale and rebates.
Permit coordination is included in every quote – never an upsell. Get your free estimate.

Our Recent Projects
Most residential Level 2 EV charger installations in Sacramento run between $500 and $1,200 all-in — including the dedicated circuit, permit, and installation labor. If your panel needs an upgrade first (common in older Sacramento homes with 100-amp service), that adds $1,500–$3,500 depending on panel size and complexity. Tesla Wall Connector installs typically fall in the $400–$900 range for labor, plus the cost of the unit if you haven't already purchased one. Commercial multi-station installs vary widely by scope. The best way to know your exact number is a free on-site estimate — call (916) 307-0990 or → request yours here.
Yes — in the City of Sacramento and unincorporated Sacramento County, a permit is required for EV charger installations that involve a new dedicated circuit (which is essentially every Level 2 install). Skipping the permit is a real risk: it can void your homeowner's insurance, complicate a future home sale, and create liability if something goes wrong. We pull the permit for every job we do — it's included in your quote, not an add-on.
For a standard residential Level 2 installation where your panel already has capacity, plan on 2–4 hours. If we're running conduit through a finished garage, installing a subpanel for a detached structure, or doing a panel upgrade at the same time, the job can take a full day. We'll give you a realistic time estimate when we assess your home — no vague "it depends" answers.
Level 1 uses a standard 120V outlet and adds roughly 3–5 miles of range per hour — fine for plug-in hybrids or very low daily mileage, but painfully slow for most EV owners. Level 2 uses a 240V dedicated circuit (same as your dryer) and adds 15–30 miles of range per hour, delivering a full charge overnight. For most Sacramento households driving 30–60 miles a day, Level 2 is the practical choice. We install both, but we'll tell you honestly which one makes sense for your situation.
Possibly yes. SMUD customers in Sacramento may qualify for EV charger rebates through SMUD's residential and commercial incentive programs. PG&E customers may have access to separate program offerings depending on their service area. Eligibility depends on your utility, the charger model, and installation compliance. We assess rebate eligibility as part of every consultation and help you navigate the process — so you're not leaving money on the table. Ask us about current programs when you call (916) 307-0990 or → request your estimate.
Yes. OldTown Electric Inc. holds CA Contractor License #1099728 and carries full liability insurance and workers' compensation. All EV charger installations are performed by licensed electricians — not helpers or trainees — in full compliance with California's NEC 2023 electrical code and Sacramento's local permit requirements. You can verify our license at the CSLB website any time.
