Installation of camera with transformer.
Not picture but installation of fan with heater and light in bathroom.
Having a carport/storage shed(16'X24') I needed to have the power line raised from pole to house(County Code).
They were prompt on the day of work. They noticed somethings that needed to be brought up to code. They explained what needed to be done, the way they were going to do it and the cost.
I noticed the pictures are not in order. SMUD disconnecting the power line, the electrician installing the raiser, SMUD connecting the power line to utility box.
What was to be expected was the wait for SMUD, the county and SMUD. In this kind of work you are on their schedule and not the other way around.
The electricians did their work on a timely basis.
I continue to call them for an electrical work and ethernet connection.
County inspector after passing inspection on footing and forms suggested that I have a ground rebar installed.
I contacted OldTown Electric Inc. who I had previously made arrangements to run a power line along with two cables for security cameras an Ethernet line to the storage shed part of the structure.
They were prompt, professional and courteous.
EV Charging Station Installation in Elk Grove
The goal is not just a charger on the wall. The goal is a safe, clean, dependable charging setup that fits your vehicle, garage, panel capacity, and daily driving pattern. OldTown Electric provides EV charger installation throughout the Sacramento area and supports local electrical work through our Elk Grove electrician service area.
Hardwired Level 2 wall connector installation
A hardwired Level 2 charger is the cleanest choice for most daily EV drivers. We mount the charger, run the dedicated 240V circuit, size the breaker correctly, and make sure the installation matches the charger manufacturer’s requirements.
NEMA 14-50 outlet installation
A NEMA 14-50 outlet works well when you use a portable EV charger or want flexibility before choosing a wall connector. We install the outlet on a properly sized dedicated circuit so it is not sharing power with garage tools, appliances, or old wiring.
Panel load check before the quote
EV charging adds a real load to your home. Before we recommend a charger setup, we review the panel, existing circuits, service size, and likely charging amperage so you know whether your home can support the install as-is.
Smart charging and load management options
Some homes do not need a full panel upgrade to charge safely. A smart charger, energy management device, or circuit sharing approach may solve the load issue when the setup is designed correctly. Not sure what your panel can handle? Call (916) 307-0990 and we’ll look at it before you buy the wrong equipment.
Clean garage routing
Many Elk Grove installs come down to where the panel sits in relation to the garage. We plan the shortest safe route possible, avoid sloppy exposed runs when a cleaner path is available, and leave the finished setup looking intentional.
Small commercial and multifamily charging
For workplaces, small retail properties, and multifamily sites, EV charging usually needs more planning than a single-home install. We can review the electrical scope, charger count, conduit path, and permit requirements before you commit to equipment.
Get the garage ready before the vehicle arrives
Buying the EV first and figuring out the charger later creates pressure. Get the circuit checked first, then choose the charger with a real installation plan behind it. Call (916) 307-0990 or request a free estimate.
The details that decide whether the install is clean
- Permit-aware planning: Elk Grove treats residential EV charger installation as a permit/plan-review item. We plan the installation so the electrical work can move through the proper city review and inspection path.
- Load calculation before installation: A charger that looks simple can overload the wrong panel. We check the panel and existing loads before we recommend amperage, charger type, or a circuit path.
- Rebate-aware equipment discussion: SMUD offers Charge@Home incentives for qualifying EV charging equipment and circuit installation. We help you think through charger choice before you accidentally buy equipment that may not fit your needs.
- Clean routing, not just power: Garage installs should not look like an afterthought. We look for smart wire paths, proper mounting, durable materials, and a finished setup that matches the home.
- One electrical contractor for the full scope: If the charger install reveals a panel issue, subpanel need, or circuit limitation, OldTown Electric can handle the related electrical work instead of passing you to another contractor.
Charger installs across Elk Grove garages and driveways
We install EV chargers across Elk Grove, including Laguna West, Stonelake, Laguna Ridge, East Franklin, Camden Passage, Sheldon, and nearby Sacramento County communities. From newer tract homes to older homes with tighter panels, the right setup starts with the panel check.
Start with the circuit, not the charger box
A charger is only as reliable as the circuit behind it. OldTown Electric will check your panel, review the garage layout, and give you a clear installation path before you spend money on the wrong setup.

EV charger installation in Elk Grove depends on the charger type, panel capacity, distance from the panel to the garage, wall access, permit requirements, and whether a new 240V circuit is needed. Yes. The City of Elk Grove lists residential electric vehicle charging station installation under minor residential building permits, and plan review is required. OldTown Electric can help with the permit-ready electrical scope, charger placement, circuit sizing, and inspection path for your Elk Grove installation.
Possibly. Elk Grove is in SMUD territory, and SMUD's Charge@Home program currently offers up to $600 toward qualifying EV charging equipment and/or circuit installation. Eligibility depends on the charger, equipment, application path, and current SMUD program rules.
Not always. Some Elk Grove homes can support a dedicated Level 2 EV circuit with the existing panel, while others need load management, a circuit sharing device, a subpanel, or a panel upgrade. OldTown Electric checks your panel capacity before quoting the job so the installation is sized safely.
A hardwired Level 2 charger is usually the cleaner long-term setup, especially for daily charging. A NEMA 14-50 outlet gives more flexibility if you use a portable charger or may change vehicles soon. The right choice depends on your EV, garage layout, charger amperage, and panel capacity.
