Installation of camera with transformer.
Not picture but installation of fan with heater and light in bathroom.
Having a carport/storage shed(16'X24') I needed to have the power line raised from pole to house(County Code).
They were prompt on the day of work. They noticed somethings that needed to be brought up to code. They explained what needed to be done, the way they were going to do it and the cost.
I noticed the pictures are not in order. SMUD disconnecting the power line, the electrician installing the raiser, SMUD connecting the power line to utility box.
What was to be expected was the wait for SMUD, the county and SMUD. In this kind of work you are on their schedule and not the other way around.
The electricians did their work on a timely basis.
I continue to call them for an electrical work and ethernet connection.
County inspector after passing inspection on footing and forms suggested that I have a ground rebar installed.
I contacted OldTown Electric Inc. who I had previously made arrangements to run a power line along with two cables for security cameras an Ethernet line to the storage shed part of the structure.
They were prompt, professional and courteous.
EV Charging Station Installation in Rancho Cordova
A lot of Rancho Cordova garages were never built with a 240-volt circuit anywhere near where the car parks. That is true whether the home dates back to the mid-century tract streets off Folsom Blvd and Zinfandel, or it is one of the newer builds in Anatolia or Sunridge where the panel is modern but the garage outlet still maxes out at 120 volts. Either way, getting a charger installed correctly comes down to matching the right circuit, breaker, and sometimes panel capacity to your car and your home’s existing electrical service.

What an EV Charger Install Actually Involves
Every install starts with a look at your panel, not just the garage wall.
Panel Capacity Check
Before running a circuit, we check whether your existing panel has room for a 40 or 50-amp breaker without overloading it. Older Rancho Cordova homes near Folsom Blvd often have 100-amp service that is already close to capacity once HVAC and appliances are accounted for – in those cases, a panel upgrade may need to happen first.
Level 2 Charger Wiring
We run a dedicated 240-volt circuit from your panel to the charger location, sized correctly for your vehicle’s charging speed. This is the most common request we get from newer Anatolia and Sunridge homeowners who already have a modern panel but no garage circuit built for EV charging.
HOA-Compliant Installation
Several of Rancho Cordova’s newer subdivisions have HOA rules about exterior conduit, equipment visibility, and approved mounting locations. We route wiring and mount equipment to stay within those guidelines so you are not stuck redoing the work later. Call to confirm your HOA’s requirements before we schedule.
Subpanel Installation
If your main panel genuinely cannot support an added EV circuit, we install a dedicated subpanel instead of forcing more amperage out of an aging panel. This is a common fix for the mid-century tract homes built before EV charging was ever a consideration.

What Sets This Install Apart
- We pull the permit ourselves. Rancho Cordova requires a permit for EV charger circuits, and we handle the paperwork with the city so the install passes inspection without you chasing it down.
- Upfront, written pricing. You get a number before work starts, and it does not change once we are in your garage.
- 10+ years, family-owned. We are not a call center dispatching a random contractor – the same local team handles your job start to finish.
- 226+ verified reviews, BBB A-rated. Customers consistently mention punctuality and clear communication, which matters when someone is in your garage running wire.
- Satisfaction guarantee. If something is not right after the install, we come back and fix it.

Yes. The City of Rancho Cordova requires an electrical permit for new circuits, including EV charger installs. Old Town Electric pulls the permit and schedules the inspection as part of the job - you do not need to deal with the city directly.
Most straightforward installs run $600-$1,400 depending on the distance from your panel to the charger location. If your panel needs a capacity upgrade or a subpanel first, total cost runs higher. We give you an exact number after a free on-site look. Call (916) 307-0990 for a quote.
It depends on the home's age and existing electrical load. Older homes near Folsom Blvd and Zinfandel with 100-amp service are more likely to need an upgrade or subpanel than newer Anatolia or Sunridge homes already running 200-amp service. We check this for free before quoting.
SMUD has offered rebate and incentive programs for residential EV charging in the past, and program availability changes. We will tell you what is current at the time of your install, but we recommend confirming directly with SMUD as well.
Many of Rancho Cordova's newer planned communities have HOA rules on exterior equipment and conduit placement. Check with your HOA before scheduling, and let us know the requirements - we will install within those guidelines. (916) 307-0990 | Request a Free Estimate
