Incorporated West Sacramento addresses permit through the City of West Sacramento Building Division at 1110 West Capitol Avenue, filed on the city’s online portal. Unincorporated Yolo County parcels go to the county instead. Sending the application to the wrong desk costs about a week, and it is the single most common way a job here slips.

The utility splits the same way. SMUD’s territory stops at the Sacramento County line, so everything in 95605 and 95691 is PG&E. On a service upgrade that means a meter release and, depending on the drop, a PG&E crew visit, scheduled on PG&E’s calendar rather than ours. We make that call, file the permit, and meet the inspector. Most of what we do is residential electrical work, though the commercial side keeps us just as busy.
